Every well has the optimal economic water yield, the capacity of pump should be equal to or less than the water yield when the water level of motor-pumped well drop to the half of depth of water. When the water pumpage is greater than the water yield of motor-pumped well, it will brought borehole wall sloughing and silting up, which will affect the lifespan of well. On the contrary, if the water pumpage is too little, the well can’t be fully effective. So, the best way is having a pumping test and find out the maximum water yield of well to select the capacity of pumps.
